Sonablate Welcomes Former Stryker Medical Division Leader to Board

Sonablate, a company focused on non-invasive prostate cancer treatment using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), has appointed former Stryker Medical Division president Brad Saar to its board of directors.

The company said adding Saar reflects its continued focus on expanding HIFU adoption and advancing its “precision sound medicine” platform. The approach uses targeted ultrasound energy to treat disease with surgical precision while preserving patient function.

Sonablate’s HIFU tech is U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared for prostate tissue ablation. HIFU leverages focused ultrasound energy to precisely ablate targeted prostate tissue without incisions, which allows physicians to treat cancer while minimizing damage to surrounding nerves and structures.

New board member Saar boasts over three decades of experience in global medical technology division. In leading Stryker’s Medical Division, he oversaw a multibillion-dollar business and drove sustained growth through strategic expansion, operational execution, and acquisitions. Over his tenure, he delivered sustained double-digit growth, leading 15 acquisitions totaling $7.4 billion and overseeing global manufacturing expansion.
